Lattice-Type Filters

The filters which have been previously considered were of the ladder type. Campbell8 developed the lattice-type structure5 shown schematically in Fig. 11. With the lattice structure, sharper cutoff characteristics are obtainable and greater flexibility of design is possible. Campbell proved9 that the lattice structure was as effective in filtering as any symmetrical structure of inductors and

capacitors can be made. Attention is directed to the fact that the configuration of the lattice structure is that of a Wheatstone bridge; for this reason such networks sometimes are referred to as bridge structures.
