Example 1: Approximating
Approximate √2π. We have √2 ~ 1.4142, π ~ 3.14. Thus 1.414 < √2 < 1.415, 3.1 < π < 3.2. By the inequalities for exponents, (1.414)3.1 < √2π < (1.415)3.2, or 2.91 < √2π < 3.06. Thus √2π is within 1/10 of 3.0.
