Find dy/dx where y = ln[(3 - 2x)2].

We have

(3 - 2x)2 = |3 - 2x|2,

and by the rules of logarithms,

y = 2 ln |3 - 2x|.

By Theorem 1,

This answer is correct when 3 - 2x is negative as well as positive.
