Factor Theorem

FACTOR THEOREM

x - r is a factor of a polynomial G(x) if and only if r is a root of G(x) = 0.

QUADRATIC FORMULA

Let a ≠ 0. x is a root of ax2 + bx + c = 0 if and only if

If (ax + b)n appears in the factorization of G(x), the sum of partial fractions will contain the following terms:

If (ax2 + bx + c)n appears, the sum of partial fractions will include

To find the partial fractions we must solve for the unknown constants Ai, Bi, and Ci. We show how this is done in the examples.
