Poll About the Topic of Alcohol

We asked young people and adults on the street what they think about alcohol.

Most teenagers start to drink alcohol when they are about 13 or 14 years old. Usually, they are induced by friends or they go to a beer garden with their fathers. All of the young people we asked do drink alcohol, and many drink in large quantities.

Some down 6-8 vodkas at a party, others drink up to 5 litres of all kinds of alcohol, and some cannot even remember what they drank.

Some people buy alcohol three times a week to celebrate with friends and to drink until they can’t remember anything.

Most teenagers do not like beer, as they consider it too bitter. Only those who started with beer because of their parents (at a beer garden) do like it. According to our poll, Eristoff Vodka is the favourite spirit.

At 16, many young people start drinking beer, though. Mostly only people over 16 stated that they drink beer from time to time. Just one person younger than 16 said that she likes beer and sometimes drinks a bottle with her father.

This poll was conducted by Jasmin Hancer and Daniela Pikhard, Gymnasium Laaerbergstraße, Vienna, Austria.
