Rectifiers

A rectifier is defined1 as "a device which converts alternating current into unidirectional current by virtue of a characteristic permitting appreciable flow of current in only one direction." A rectifier unit is defined1 as "the rectifier with its essential auxiliaries and the rectifier transformer equipment." In practice, this unit is usually referred to as a rectifier.
