Typical Toll Connection

Toll systems are designed to meet special situations and are less standardized than local systems. The basic arrangement is shown in Fig. 1.

The line of the calling party is connected by the local operator (or dial equipment) to the toll office and is there connected to a toll line, or channel, to the distant exchange. There the line, or channel, terminates at the toll office, and connections are made through the proper local central office to the called party's line.
