Power Output and Plate Efficiency

Author: J.B. Hoag

The power output is defined as the useful a.c. power consumed by the load connected to the oscillator. The plate efficiency is defined, as in the case of amplifiers, as the ratio of the output power to the d.c. plate input power. For oscillators, the efficiency is usually about 50 per cent; a low value because the oscillator has an appreciable grid current.
