Step 1

Find the points where the plane crosses the x- and z-axes.

The plane crosses the x-axis at (2, 0, 0).

The plane crosses the z-axis at (0, 0, 4).

The plane is parallel to the y-axis.

Draw a rectangle with two sides parallel to the y-axis and two sides parallel to the line segment from

(2, 0, 0) to (0, 0, 4),

as in Figure 10.5.3.

This rectangle lies in the plane.
