Other Limits of Power Output

Author: E.E. Kimberly

In addition to collapse of terminal voltage, the permissible momentary power output of a generator is limited by destructive sparking between the commutator and the brushes. The maximum continuous power output is determined by the maximum permissible temperature rise. That load on a generator which, when carried continuously, produces the maximum permissible temperature rise is called full load.
