Houston And The Gulf Coast Of Texas And Louisiana

Gemini 12 photograph of Houston and the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana. Houston is at the left center of the image, at the end of Galveston Bay. The Harris County Domed Stadium (the Astrodome) can be seen as a small white dot in southwest Houston. The straight blue line in Galveston Bay is the Houston Ship Channel. Note the turbid waters flowing into the Gulf along the coast. A marsh fire produced the smoke plume at the upper right. The Sam Rayburn reservoir is near the top of the image above Houston. Galveston Bay is about 50 km long, and north is at 11:00. (Gemini 12, S66-63034 )
