Example 7: Saddle Shaped Surface

Sketch the graph of the product function z = xy, where

The surface is saddle shaped. It intersects the horizontal plane

z = z0

in the curve

y = z0/x.

It intersects the vertical planes

x = x0 and y = y0

in the lines

z = x0y and z = xy0.
