Rape Oil and Rep OilRape and rep oil are produced from the same plant. The difference is that rep is cultivated in autumn and rape in spring. For the last 25 years, the oil was only produced from rape, and for the last 4 years, 'rape oil' is written on the label. Rape is delivered in sacks of 50-60 kg, and rough-grinded in the mill. Afterwards, the rape is roasted in a roaster for 45-50 minutes. Water is added and heated. Due to the evaporation of the water, the fat cells open. Roaster Because of this production method, rape oil is very aromatic and tasty. This rape oil is very healthy, as the rape was cultivated biologically. Pressing Oil
The heated seeds of the unprocessed produce are pressed through a sieve. The oil passes through the sieve, and the residue, called oilcake, is used as animal and carp feed in husbandry. The produced oil is not refined. It is stored in large tanks. The solid particles precipitate, and the oil can be filled into bottles. When talking about cold pressed, this means pressed around 60°C. The advantage of cold pressing is that more vitamins are preserved. This oil is healthier, since cold pressed oil contains several unsaturated fatty acids. It is mostly used for dressings. CostsOn average, rape oil is cheaper than pumpkinseed oil. 1 l rape oil: approx. 4,07 1 l pumpkinseed oil: approx. 14,60 Per litre, 2.5 kg seeds are need.
