Visit to an Oil-mill

Family Business Schellnegger

The oil-mill Schellnegger supplies stores and inns in the region. Since this oil-mill is a family business, Mr. and Mrs. Schellnegger often work 2-4 days per week in the mill and produce oil. On the other days, they fill the oil, supply their costumers and do the office work.
The oil-mill Schellnegger offers the possibility of bringing your own refillable bottles and thus contributes to environmental protection. And for the costumer the oil becomes cheaper.

About the Schellnegger Oil-Mill

The Schellnegger oil-mill has existed since 1928, and already the 3rd generation is at work. Formerly, this oil-mill was powered by waterpower, but there were problems in winter, since there was often not enough water. Therefore, the waterpower drive was replaced by an electric motor in the year 1960. Because of these motors the costs are higher, of course.
In this oil-mill no light oils are produced, but only pumpkinseed oil, rape oil, linseed oil and salad oil (sunflower oil and 20% pumpkinseed oil).
The quality of these oils depends on the quality of the raw material.
